Kansai’s only Dinasaur called Tambatitanis (looks like diplodocus) was discovered in the Tamba, Hyogo region. This HUGE creature’s teeth, braincase, dorsal ribs, dorsal vertebrae, sacral spines, caudals, ribs and pubis were excavated. It measurements are: 13m long and weighted about 15 tonnes. It was alive about 110 MILLION YEARS AGO and it is Japan’s most recent discovery….. just found recently in August 2006!!!
This is very very rare as there are only 3 locations in Japan where dinosaur remains are (Fukui, Ishikawa & Tamba).

The Museum is complete with: Restoration of entire Tambatitanis skeleton, case enclosed real bones, cleaning room and reproduction of a scene of the excavation site. The curator Mr Ogino will give us a private guided tour of this small but informative building museum. Shortly after we will visit a business selling cultivated, fine trimmed, spectatcular manicured trees!!!
The root system has carefully been prepared and gathered for future sale. Then we will go to the Sasayama Castle Ruins

Check out Japan’s oldest wooden courthouse in the small town’s centre!!

Finally we will visit the famous sake factory nearby. Huge exhibit showcasing how sake was manufactured and has been marvellously preserved……its how they did it more than 200 years ago….NOTE: a definate must do even IF YOU DON’T DRINK ALCOHOL:)

We will finsh the day with a free sake taste testing of the fine sake from plum wine Junmai-shu (rice only)Honjozo-shu, Ginjo-shu (highly milled rice, no alcohol added) Daiginjo-shu and Nama-zake.
